Agate is a mineral of the Quartz group. It is a fibrous banded chalcedony that is typically translucent. Agate comes in a variety of colors and has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7. There are many types of Agates and their names are often based on their location, patterns, or colors.
Spotted Agate is an Agate with cream, brown, tan and white colors. The "spots" are usually brown, tan, cream or white. Metaphysically speaking, it is said that Agates tend to have a slow-pace type of energy and generally promote grounding, stability, harmony and mental clarity.
