Labradorite is a plagioclase Feldspar mineral. It rarely forms in crystals for it usually grows in masses. It has a 6-6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale and it streaks white. Labradorite is a gray colored material with iridescent colors. It has what is called schillers or labradorescence, which is a play of colors or colored reflections exhibited especially by Labradorite. Such colors include green, blue, yellow/gold, purple, red, or orange. Green, blue and yellow are the most common.
Labradorite was first found in 1770 at Paul’s Island in Labrador, Canada. It can be found in Canada, the US, Finland, Madagasgar, Ukraine, and other places.
A variety from Finland known as Spectrolite, shows the schiller effect with dark reds, orange, yellow/gold, blues and green color flashes.
The Inuit people are believed to have said that labradorite is a piece of Aurora Borealis (northern lights) that fell to the earth. It is said that some of the metaphysical properties of Labradorite may include:

There are many beautiful colors in Labradorite. It's truly a spectacular mineral. Keep in mind that lower quality Labradorite is a dull gray/greenish color and may not even have flash. You can se that in the rough picture in the collage below.

KIM'S LABRADORITE TIPS
Labradorite is great on the throat and third eye chakras, however I typically place a Labradorite on my heart chakra during most energy readings. I feel it helps heighten my empathic abilities and at the same time protects my heart, which is greatly needed during reading sessions.
Labradorite is also a great one to scan your aura with. Simply hold your Labradorite and sweep your entire body, about 1 inch away. Then go back and sweep again, about 3 inches away. I often do this Labradorite AND Selenite during the same session.
